The year 2008 was an unforgettable year in my life. I left my siblings to live with my mom. My mom was searching for a job then, in one of the biggest cities of Tamil Nadu. On a hot summer day my mom took me along with her for a job interview. After the interview we were waiting at the bus stop to board a bus back to our humble abode. There was a bakery nearby and I asked my mom to get me an expensive chocolate which came along with a toy to play with. My mom simply refused and got me a candy instead. I was throwing a tantrum. Little did I know that she didn’t have enough money to get me that chocolate. Life was pretty hard back then. I made myself numb to emotions, hardships, and feelings. I never cried from then on. Years passed and lot of better things happened. I have a collection of those toys that I once longed for. Now I am an Engineering Student. Two days back when I was returning to hostel from home, a little girl standing near a bakery was pleading her mom to get her the same expensive chocolate that I once asked my mom to get me. Her mom couldn’t afford it and she got her a little candy to go with. It hit me hard. Something inside me become heavy, I was shaking. Tears welled up my eyes and I felt helpless. So I said a little prayer in my heart as I passed by: God, thank you for blessing my life with better things and please make their life better too!
